San Rafael

San Rafael is the second northerly most city in Marin, just south of Novato. The 2010 United States Census reported that the city of San Rafael had a population of 57,713. This figure does not include portions of the Santa Venetia and Lucas Valley-Marinwood neighborhoods, nor various other unincorporated areas.  Including the unincorporated areas, there are 70,197 residents of San Rafael postal addresses (ZIP codes 94901 and 94903). San Rafael contains a number of parks including China Camp State Park. One County maintained park next to China Camp State Park this park is McNear's Beach Park run by Marin County Parks. This park also has a pool that is open for public use ($5 entrance fee, Seasonal Summer Use).Community parks are Albert Park, Boyd Park, Gerstle Park, Pickleweed Park and the Terra Linda Recreational Center. Albert Park is the home of the San Rafael Pacifics Baseball Club, a minor league team founded in 2012. There are a number of neighborhood parks and mini-parks such as Bret Harte Park, Boyd Park, Sun Valley Park, Oleander Park, Victor Jones Park, Peacock Gap Park and Gerstle Park. Gerstle Park is also a historic and walkable neighborhood south of First Street in close proximity to central Downtown. The Marin County Government offices are located in the famous Frank Lloyd Wright building easily spotted east of highway 101. San Rafael has various neighborhoods from lower prices up to multi-million dollar estates. It also is a transportation hub adjacent to its’ downtown area(some may recognize cruising scenes from the movie “American Graffiti”!
